The school’s main lobby is a mufti-functioning space during school days. In time of certain important school event, it is the indoor alternative when outdoor air quality exceeds quota, and therefore could become packed during the events. Relocated in the main lobby, the parent committee’s new space is intended to foster interaction among school and community, and to represent the feature and the core value of Friends Of Harrow. Movable panels are designed to generate flexible use of the space. It can be closed for meeting or opened up to the community.

What the parent committee does is to organize activities that links the community to enhance relationships, to raise money to donate to charity organizations and to support school’s events. The design of the FOH wall intents to manifest such value and spirits. Both the Wall of Hope and the Wall of Display allow participation from students.

Wall of Display
Part of the back wall is “wall of display”. It is made of a matrix of recycled paper rolls sticking out from a layer of perforated metal panel. Each paper roll can slide in and out so that the wall could be made into endless configurations to suit any display purpose.

Wall of Hope
The other part of the wall is “wall of hope”. Transparent tubes at 45 degree angle are connected to vertical planting bed. Each tube has a seed in it and green leaves grow out of the tube. The life circle of a plant could be for a season. The planting of seeds could be linked with major school activities and charity events. Plants is life. The seeds are seeds of hope and seeds of love.
